Database Infrastructure Services

The Database Infrastructure Services provides central database support for services accross all activities of the laboratory, based on the Oracle Database and Application Server. This includes software installation and distribution, consultancy, first line support and database management as well as administration for all of the main databases at CERN. It also covers maintaining relations with the supplier and license / contract management. More precisely, the Database Infrastructure Services consists of three main parts:

  1. Services for the development, deployment and running of the core administrative applications that make up the Administrative Information Service. (AIS Database Services).
  2. Services required for the database applications in the CERN Accelerator and Technical sector, as well as the infrastructure on which CERN's Engineering Data Management Service is run. (Infrastructure Services)
  3. Services for the physics community, including applications related to book keeping, file transfer, physics production processing, on-line integration, detector construction and calibration (Physics Database Services).
